A Discourse Approach in Reading : Introduction & Recount

Introduction & Recount
On 4 January 2016
This is the first day of studying "A Discourse Approach in Reading"
First of all my teacher give a course syllabus for us and then she explained about it.
Today we started to learn about " Recount" that is the unfolding of a sequence of events over time and the purpose is to tell what happened. There are 3 types:
1.Personal Recount e.g. diary entry
2.Factual recount e.g. report of science experiment, police report, news report, historical account.
3.Imaginative recount e.g. a day in the life of Roman slave; how I invented.
But she's going to teach just 2 types:personal recount and factual recount.
Then my teacher explained about
text organization
   - orientation
   - events
   - reorientation
language features
   - who, where,when,what
   - Action verbs/past tense
-linking words to do with time
   -specific participants
After that, my teacher assgined us to read  "My Granpa's Funeral in Toroja"

, " An Excursion to the Botanic Gardens" and answer the questions that follow.

Before times up my teacher assigns us to do next excercise and next week she'll give a corrective feedback.
